Long-term rentals in Punta Popy, Las Terrenas

Atmosphere

Punta Popy is a central, lively stretch of beachfront. Local real-estate guides describe beach clubs, seafood restaurants, kitesurfing and a younger, active crowd. Its wide sandy area hosts concerts and events: if you want peace and quiet, ask how far the home is from the beach and visit in the evening too.

Beach

Playa Punta Popy has about 1 km of sand and takes up the eastern end of the town beach, a few steps from the tourist centre. It is known for kitesurfing.

Housing

Much of the housing is condo apartments, often in rental programmes, and new mid-rise buildings have gone up in recent years. For a rental of several months this has practical consequences: ask whether the condo maintenance fee is included in the rent, what it covers (pool, security, a generator for common areas) and whether many of the neighbours are short-stay guests.

On foot

According to the same guides, everything is a short walk away. Banks, pharmacies and the supermarket cluster in the centre on Calle Duarte, and the tourist centre is a few steps from the beach.

Internet and electricity

Punta Popy does not appear by that name on the list of Claro fibre sectors we checked ("Las Terrenas Centro" does): confirm coverage at the exact address. Electricity is distributed by Luz y Fuerza de Las Terrenas and there have been outages caused by faults on the interconnection line: ask whether the building or the apartment has a generator or an inverter. Who is it for?

Singles, couples and active people who want the beach, kitesurfing and a social life on foot, without a car. Less suitable if you need quiet evenings or a house with a large garden: in that case, look at El Portillo or Cosón.
