Atmosphere

Playa Bonita is a quiet area. Wikivoyage notes that there is no local community as such and that its beaches are far less crowded than those in town. Small boutique hotels sit in the trees along the sand. It is a setting for a calm life, away from the bustle of the centre.

Beach

The beach is about 1 km long, with a small surf break at its west end. If your home is close to the sand, you will have an uncrowded beach a few steps away for your whole stay.

Getting around

Playa Bonita lies about 3 km west of town, 5-15 minutes' drive from the centre. Wikivoyage points out that you cannot walk there along the beach from town: you have to use the back roads. Banks, pharmacies and the supermarket are in the centre, mostly on Calle Duarte, so for daily life plan on a car, a scooter or another regular means of transport.

Internet and electricity

Playa Bonita does not appear by that name among the Claro fibre sectors we have checked; some maps place it within El Cosón, which is on the list. As coverage is defined by sector, check the exact address before signing, especially if you work remotely. Electricity is distributed by Luz y Fuerza de Las Terrenas, a private company, and the area has had outages caused by faults on the line that feeds it: ask what backup the home has (inverter or generator). Who is it for?

Playa Bonita suits couples, remote workers with a verified connection and surfers, as long as they have a vehicle and are not looking to walk out at night. For a livelier pace, Pueblo de los Pescadores and Punta Popy are in town.
