Long-term rentals in Las Terrenas town centre

Atmosphere

The centre of Las Terrenas stretches along Calle Duarte (Calle Juan Pablo Duarte), the commercial strip that runs to the coast at Pueblo de los Pescadores. A local real-estate guide describes it as the busiest and most walkable area, active all year round (a general description we have not verified). The price of having everything close is that it is the least quiet place to live.

Shops and services

Everyday services cluster on and around Calle Duarte: bank branches, pharmacies, a supermarket, a clinic, an ARS SeNaSa (public health insurance) service point and remittance agents. Businesses change over time, so we do not publish a directory: ask the landlord which ones are closest to the home.

Beaches

The town beaches are close: Las Ballenas begins just west of the centre, facing Pueblo de los Pescadores, and Punta Popy takes up the eastern end of the town beach, a few steps from the tourist centre.

Internet

"Las Terrenas Centro" is on Claro's list of fibre (FTTH) sectors. That is a good sign if you work remotely, but coverage is confirmed address by address: ask the landlord whether fibre is already installed.

Electricity

Las Terrenas is not served by Edenorte: electricity is distributed by a private company, Luz y Fuerza de Las Terrenas. If you need to open the account in your own name, you will be asked for the lease and a copy of your passport or residency, plus a deposit equal to two months of estimated consumption, refunded when the contract is cancelled. The area has had outages caused by faults on the interconnection line: ask whether the home has an inverter or a generator. Full details in our guide to electricity and power cuts.

Who is it for?

The centre suits people without a car, those who want to run errands on foot and work stays that need fibre. If quiet comes first, look at Las Ballenas or El Portillo.
